Resume & Portfolio
With Bonnie Siegler at Eight & a Half (design studio)
ResumeThis is your chance to display your understanding of typography/design principles. You should be able to fit your content on one page, & you do not need a logo on it. List your employers, what you did for them, education, skills and interests. There is no need for the word "Objective", no charts, only list skills that you already have, DO NOT LIE. Always have a fresh set of eyes proof-read for you.
Portfolio
Your portfolio will speak for you, is it original? skillful? does it solve a problem? When including work. go with quality over quantity. You can make up projects for types of work you would like to get paid for. Explain projects, such as: target audience/demographic, type of industry, etc. Give credit where its due, meaning: whom you collaborated with, and what your part was.
Interviewing
Bring a printed version of your portfolio, clean up your desktop, and have your files open and ready. Have your work in order, start with your strongest piece, end with your second strongest. Do your research on the firm you are applying for, come prepared to ask a few questions yourself. The day after your interview send a thank you note.
